Today we end the Christmas season with the celebration of the baptism of Jesus. Jesus is proof of how important this Sacrament is. So if you know of someone who has not been yet baptized, young or old, please stress to them how essential this is!
Since we just began a new year and have made many resolutions, I would like you to think for a moment on what you may have decided to resolve for 2022. I’m sure many of you, like me are looking to lose weight. For me, it is simply to eat healthier and let everything else take care of itself. But what about a spiritual resolution? Is there anything in your life from that perspective that you would like to change or enhance? There are several things I’d like to do this year, but I think my main spiritual goal is to help our parish by reflecting on a quote from St. Francis of Assisi: “Start by doing what is necessary; then do what is possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” My prayer for our parish family and for myself is to attempt to follow this simple directive from St. Francis. First and foremost, take care of what needs to be done every day; then dream a bit about what is possible here and work with others to see if it is indeed possible. If our work here is for God every day of the year, what seems impossible can and will be done! Think of where you would like this parish to be; what you would like to see here to make it a better place? Join one of our many wonderful committees and together, we will be able to accomplish what may now seem impossible and make this a place where the love of God is felt every day!
